1. Who we are

Yatra is a shared auto-rickshaw ride app operated by Oxyreum Labs ("we", "us"), based in Kohalpur, Banke, Lumbini Province, Nepal. We are the controller of the personal data described here. Questions? Email privacy@yatraride.com.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account: your mobile number, name, and role (passenger or driver).
  • Driver verification (KYC): for drivers only — identity and vehicle documents required to drive legally. These are encrypted at rest.
  • Payments: Yatra is cash-only for now — you pay your driver directly. We record that a ride was paid and its fare, but we do not collect or store card numbers, bank details, or wallet credentials.
  • Support content: problem reports and messages you send us.

Information collected automatically

  • Location: precise location to show nearby autos, set pickup/drop, match rides, and — for drivers who are online — to stream live position during a trip. Drivers' location is shared while on duty; passengers' precise location is used around the time of a ride.
  • Device & usage: device model, OS version, app version, and a push-notification token, used for delivery, security, and diagnostics.
  • Ride data: pickup/drop points, route, fare, timestamps, and ratings.

3. How we use your information

  • To match you with drivers (or passengers) and complete rides.
  • To calculate fares and apply any active coupons.
  • To show live location and estimated arrival during a trip.
  • To send you notifications about ride status, scheduled rides, and responses to your support reports.
  • To verify drivers and keep the platform safe.
  • To provide customer support and resolve disputes.
  • To prevent fraud and abuse, and to meet legal obligations in Nepal.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your data for third-party advertising.

4. Who we share it with

  • Other users, as needed for a ride: your first name, approximate pickup, and (during an active trip) live location are shared with your matched driver or passenger. Phone numbers are masked — calls are connected without revealing them.
  • Service providers who help us run the app:
    • Google Firebase Cloud Messaging — to deliver push notifications.
    • Map and routing providers — to display maps and compute routes and ETAs.
    • Our cloud hosting and SMS provider — to run the service and send login codes.
  • Authorities when required by law, or to protect the safety of users and the public.

5. Data retention

We keep your account and ride history while your account is active and as needed for safety, accounting, and legal reasons. Driver KYC documents are retained for the period required by law. When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it. You can request deletion at any time (see your rights below).

6. Security

We protect your data with encryption in transit (HTTPS) and encrypt sensitive documents at rest. Access to personal data is limited to authorised staff. Login uses one-time codes and secure tokens stored safely on your device. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to safeguard your information.

7. Your rights & choices

  • Access & correction: view and update your profile in the app, or ask us for a copy of your data.
  • Deletion: request deletion of your account and personal data by emailing privacy@yatraride.com.
  • Location: you can turn off location in your device settings, but core ride features will not work without it.
  • Notifications: you can disable push notifications in your device settings at any time.

8. Children

Yatra is not intended for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has used the app, contact us and we will remove the data.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. We'll change the "last updated" date above and, for significant changes, notify you in the app. Continuing to use Yatra after an update means you accept the revised policy.
